Boeing, Silk Way Airlines Celebrate Delivery of Two 747-8 Freighters

9 Air Welcomes Its First Aircraft
9 Air, China's first low-cost carrier based in Guangzhou, welcomed its first aircraft Saturday with the arrival of a Boeing 737-800 at Guangzhou Baiyuan International Airport (CAN).
9 Air posted a group of pictures of its first aircraft on its official Weibo account and unveiled its livery and logo. The 737-800 aircraft features nine circles in different colors and sizes on its fuselage and the striking "9" on both its tail and wing tips.
The budget airline is a joint venture between Juneyao Airlines and CTI, with Juneyao Airlines holding at least a 70% stake. The start-up will focus on secondary and third-tier cities from its hub at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. The carrier also has plans to expand to serve destinations in South Asia, East Asia and Northeast Asia once it has consolidated its domestic network.
9 Air plans to introduce two more Boeing 737-800 aircraft in a 189-seat, all-economy class configuration within this year.
China's Urumqi Air Makes Inaugural Flight

China's start-up Urumqi Air Co., Ltd. (UQ), made its maiden commercial flight Friday, with a Boeing 787-800 aircraft taking off from Urumqi Diwopu International Airport (URC) at 10:18 a.m.
According to VeryZhun, China's leading flight status service provider, the inaugural flight UQ2515 took off from URC at 10:18 a.m. and is expected to arrive at Yining Airport (YIN) at 11:20 a.m., with the return flight UQ2516 departing Yinning at 11:55 a.m. and arriving in Urumqi at 12:55 p.m. On the same day, flight UQ2511 is scheduled to take off from URC at 2:00 p.m. and arrive at Kashi Airport (KHG) at 3:40 p.m, with the return flight UQ2512 departing Yinning at 4:15 p.m. and landing in Urumqi at 5:55 p.m.
Urumqi Air, which is the first local carrier in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in Northwestern China, received its operation license on Thursday. Aiming to play a major role in the New Silk Road, it will firstly focus on air routes in Xinjiang with the goal of extending to markets in Central and West Asia and Europe, according to Cen Jianjun, president of Urumqi Air.
In the initial stage, the start-up airline will fly four regional routes within Xinjiang and two domestic routes, with three Boeing 737-800s configured with all 186 economy class seats.
Urumqi Air took delivery of its very first aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, on Aug. 20. The other two 737-800s will join the fleet in September.
Registered in Urumqi Gaoxin District on May 15, 2014, Urumqi Air is a joint venture between Hainan Airlines, the controlling stakeholder with a 70% stake and Urumqi Urban Construction Investment, holding the rest 30%, with total investment capital of 3 billion yuan.

said it is going to unveil new uniforms for flight attendants on Aug. 31, when its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner will arrive in Xiamen and make its first appearance there.
The latest uniforms will be quite different compared with the current purple uniforms from the colors to the design. The new design will make the attendants look more international, which matches the SkyTeam airline's pace of internationalization.

Qatar Airways Gears Up To Receive New Aircraft Type into the Fleet
The airline has ordered 80 of the widebody A350 XWB which will be deployed on a wide variety of routes served by the Qatar Airways network.
The airline is the launch customer of the Airbus A350 programme and is set to receive its first A350 before the end of this year.
The A350 MSN005 development aircraft recently concluded a world tour, touching down in 14 cities, demonstrating its readiness for airline operations on a global scale.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said that the airline is currently in the midst of a massive fleet expansion programme and the incoming delivery of the Airbus A350 XWB type into the fleet will be a significant milestone for the airline.
“We take pride in introducing the latest products and services available to the industry and this new aircraft is a prime example of that. We look forward to offering to our passengers even more choice and variety in the young and modern fleet which we operate to more than 140 destinations across the world.”

China Eastern Shanxi Branch Receives New 737-800 Aircraft in SkyTeam Livery
China Eastern Shanxi Branch received a new boeing 737-800 aircraft in SkyTeam Livery.
The newly-introduced aircraft, registration number B-1981, is the fourth of 6 new aircraft to be delivered to the branch company in 2014. In accordance with the aircraft introduction plan, MU's Shanxi Branch will operate a fleet of 20 aircraft in the fourth quarter of this year. As a major base airline settled in Shanxi Province, the company operates about 34 outbound flights every day, forming a comprehensive network covering China's major cities, economic developed regions, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Xiamen Airlines' First 787 Conducts Test Flight Before Delivery
Xiamen Airlines first Boeing 787 Dreamliner, registration B-2768, conducted a test flight at Paine Field paving way for its delivery, according to the manufacturer's official Weibo account.
Boeing is scheduled to deliver the first 787 Dreamliner to Xiamen Airlines in Seattle on Aug. 30, which will arrive at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport (XMN) on the afternoon of Aug. 31. Xiamen Airlines' 787 Dreamliner features a classic three-class configuration with 237 seats - 4 in first class (P), 18 in business class (F) and 215 in economy class (Y).
The 787 Dreamliner will make its maiden flight MF8107/8 on Fuzhou-Beijing route on Sep. 6, when the carrier will become the third 787 operator in China following China Southern Airlines (CZ) and Hainan Airlines (HU). The outbound flight MF8107 is scheduled to take off from Fuzhou Changle International Airport (FOC) at 12:30 p.m. and arrive in Beijing at 3:05 p.m., with the return flight MF8108 departing from Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) at 4:05 p.m. and landing in Fuzhou at 8:45 p.m.
Xiamen Airlines has six Dreamliners on order. The first two 787 Dreamliners will join the airline's fleet in August and October 2014, and the rest four 787s will be delivered in next year.

Joy Air Takes Delivery of Its 9th MA60
Joy Air took delivery of its 9th MA60 aircraft on Aug. 27, 2014
Joy Air (JR), a regional carrier jointly owned by China Eastern Airlines and the AVIC group, took delivery of a brand new MA60 turboprop aircraft on Wednesday, which is the airline's 9th MA60 and also the 9th aircraft in its fleet.
In early August, Joy Air placed an order for up to 60 MA60 series aircraft, comprising 30 firm orders and a letter of intent for 30, to expand its fleet size. In addition, the carrier has 50 ARJ21s on order.
The carrier announced that it was in the process of transitioning to a low-cost carrier business model in an effort to tap the growing domestic low-cost market.

Boeing Celebrates Delivery of Royal Jordanian's First 787 Dreamliner
EVERETT, Wash., Aug. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Royal Jordanian today celebrated the delivery of the airline's first 787 Dreamliner. The airplane will play a central role in the Amman-based airline's strategic plan for fleet modernization. Royal Jordanian acquired this airplane through leasing company AerCap.
"We are delighted to receive our first 787 which will not only revolutionize the inflight experience for our passengers but also help Royal Jordanian increase its competitiveness both regionally and internationally," said Royal Jordanian chairman of the board, president and CEO Nasser Lozi. The 787 is the world's most technologically advanced airplane with composite materials making up 50 percent of the primary structure by weight, including the fuselage and wing. In addition to bringing big-jet ranges to midsize airplanes, the 787 will provide Royal Jordanian with unrivaled fuel efficiency, using 20 percent less fuel than today's similarly sized airplanes.
With this delivery, Royal Jordanian becomes only the second airline in the Middle East to operate the 787.

In addition to providing airlines with unprecedented fuel economy and low operating costs, the 787 features a host of new technologies that greatly enhance the passenger experience. The airline will configure its Dreamliner to carry 24 passengers in business class and 246 in economy class. Royal Jordanian customers in all classes will also experience cabin environment improvements such as LED mood lighting, larger windows, bigger overhead bins, lower cabin altitude and enhanced ventilation systems among other features.
To support Royal Jordanian's Dreamliners, Boeing is providing a comprehensive suite of support and services through its Commercial Aviation Services business. Royal Jordanian has received flight and maintenance training and will be using Airplane Health Management, a diagnostic and predictive capability that evaluates airplane operations data while airplanes are in flight and notifies ground crews of potential maintenance issues; a Rotable Exchange Program that provides a dedicated pool of high-value, mission-critical parts and manages inventory at a reduced cost; and Maintenance Performance Toolbox, a digital real-time-information tool that enables quick resolution of airplane maintenance issues.
Royal Jordanian currently flies a network of over 50 global destinations and plans to deploy the Dreamliner on services to North American destinations as well as to Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
To date, more than 180 Dreamliners have been delivered to 20 customers worldwide.

SINGAPORE, Aug. 25, 2014 – Boeing (NYSE: BA) announced today an order by BOC Aviation for 50 737 MAX 8s, 30 Next-Generation 737-800s and two 777-300ERs (Extended Range). The order, valued at $8.8 billion at list prices, is the largest in BOC Aviation’s 20-year history and part of the Singapore-based leasing company’s effort to grow its portfolio of fuel-efficient airplanes. Bolivia Issues Type Certificate for MA60
XAC delivered two MA60s to Bolivia in Feb. 2008, opening a new chapter for the MA60 aircraft's soaring in the skies of South America.
AVIC International enhanced its sales and marketing efforts in Bolivia starting 2010. The two parties inked an order for 4 more MA60s on May 13, 2014.
As of now, the MA60 aircraft has been granted type certificate by the civil aviation authorities of nine countries. Twenty seven customers around the world have ordered more than 270 MA60s, and nearly 100 aircraft have been delivered.
The MA60 aircraft are operated on more than 260 routes in Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and South Pacific, with flight movements and flight hours both exceeding 270,000.
China Southern Airlines' Fleet Hits 600
A new Boeing 777-300ER was officially added to the aircraft fleet of China Southern Airlines n Saturday, making it the first Chinese airline to have a fleet of 600.
The Guangzhou-based carrier is the now largest in Asia and the fifth largest worldwide, after Delta Airlines, United Airlines, FedEx and American Airlines.
The Boeing 777-300ER will be flying the Guangzhou-New York route. It is one of ten 777-300ERs ordered by CZ to be delivered between 2014 and 2016.

Urumqi Airlines Welcomes Its First Aircraft
On Aug. 20, China's start-up Urumqi Airlines Co., Ltd. (UQ) took delivery of its very first aircraft with a Boeing 737-800 painted in the airline's livery landing smoothly at Urumqi Diwopu International Airport (URC).
The Boeing 737-800, registration B-2157, is the airline's first aircraft introduced from its parent company Hainan Airlines (HU), which will operate the airline's inaugural flight on Aug. 29.
With the introduction of first aircraft, Urumqi Airlines unveiled its logo and aircraft livery as well. The logo integrates the three-color Adlai silk and flying dove, which highlights the geographical reputation of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, symbolizing peace and friendship. The carrier employs

China Eastern Receives First A319 Equipped with Head-up Display
Recently, China Eastern Airlines has taken delivery of its very first Airbus A320 Family aircraft equipped with head-up display (HUD) system, with an A319 with traditional livery landing smoothly at Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG). The newly-introduced aircraft, registration number B-6459, marking MU the first Chinese airline to operate A319 equipped with the HUD.
As one of the three major airlines in China, the Shanghai-based carrier operates a fleet of up to 240 aircraft, including more than 200 A320 Family aircraft. With the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) targeting near-universal use of HUDs by 2025, MU plans to install HUDs on its newly introduced A320s. By 2015, the CAAC wants HUDs in 10% of aircraft that can be fitted with them.
Following the installation of HUDs for the present batch of 12 A319s, the follow-up 16 A320s to be delivered will also be installed the devices. With the introduction of new aircraft, MU's fleet size grows subsequently.

According to the airline, Flight OZ202 is scheduled to depart Incheon International Airport (ICN) at 2:50 p.m. and arrive at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) at 10:20 a.m., with the return flight OZ201 departing Los Angeles at 12:50 p.m. and landing at Incheon at 5: 20 p.m. the next day.
The airline has specified a premium three class layout for its A380 superjumbo, seating a total of 495 passengers, with 12 private suites in First Suite, 66 fully flat seats in Business Smartium and 417 seats in Travel Class.

Xiamen Airlines Sets First 787 Commercial Flight on Sep. 6
Xiamen Airlines first Boeing 787 Dreamliner is set to operate Fuzhou-Beijing route on Sep. 6, which is not only the airline's first wide-body aircraft, but also the first 787 Dreamliner settled in Fujian Province.
Boeing will deliver Xiamen Airlines' first 787 Dreamliner, registration number B-278, in Seattle on Aug. 30, when the carrier will become the third 787 operator in China following China Southern Airlines (CZ) and Hainan Airlines (HU). The Xiamen-based carrier confirmed Tuesday that the 787 Dreamliner will arrive at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport (XMN) on Aug. 31 and will make its maiden flight between Fuzhou and Beijing on Sep. 6, without giving a specific timetable.
It is learnt that Xiamen Airlines' 787 Dreamliner was scheduled to make its first commercial flight from Fuzhou to Beijing on Aug. 1, which was postponed to Aug. 18 due to late delivery. Starting from Sep. 6, the Xiamen-based carrier will initially operate the Dreamliner on domestic flights before flying the aircraft on international services to Europe and North America.
